PROFESSIONAL SUMMARY AND KEY ACCOMPLISHMENTS:

Mr. Prashant Jalan is a 4th generation industrialist based out of Kolkata. He hails from a family which has distinguished itself in the industrial landscape of Eastern India.  Mr. Jalan successfully incorporated Bengal Nestor’s Industries Limited (BNIL) as a joint sector company with the West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation Limited (WBIDC). 

The Prashant Jalan Group holds 71.46% of the equity capital of the Company. The balance equity 28.54% is held jointly between West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation and West Bengal Co-operative Milk Federation Limited. With unwavering enthusiasm, steely resolve and extreme commitment to the task at hand, Mr. Jalan is determined to contribute his share to the Food Processing sector in India.

BNIL was in a contract manufacturing arrangement with Nestle until the year 2009 for the East of India, specifically in the realm of Nestle’s Chilled Dairy operations. Currently the company is engaged in collection, processing, manufacturing & marketing of various milk & milk products in the brand name of Mother Dairy Calcutta (Mother Dairy Calcutta now converted as Banglar Dairy Limited) through two processing plants in the state of West Bengal. Presently BNIL also engaged in processing & packaging of various milk & milk products in the name of ITC Limited.

The rationale of the company to locate its plant in a rural area inhabited by poor farmers, was to ensure a change in the socio-economic structure of the area.  The company has undertaken various schemes to create backward linkages with the poor farmers for supply of milk to the plant.

Bengal Nestor’s Industries Ltd. enjoys the geographic advantage by having good quality and surplus milk available in and around the area.

Mr.Jalan is also one of the Founder & the Designated Partner of M/s Accuvance LLP. The LLP is engaged in providing bioscience solutions and most advanced assisted reproductive technology to dairy clients and farmers across India from its state-of-the-art biotech and bovine in-vitro fertilisation (IVF) lab in the national capital region and highly skilled and professional Accuvance Consulting services. It is part of a larger dairy operations group and focused at bioscience and biotechnology applications.

Accuvance provides faster genetic gain and advancement and help dairy farmers to take advantage of its most advanced reproductive and bioscience technologies.

The main vision & Goal of the LLP is Enhance animal productivity through bioscience and biotechnology innovations for protein sustenance and to increase animal productivity through our innovative bioscience solutions and bring prosperity to our customers through genetic progress, helping them to play a better, efficient, and a sustainable protein production role in the global food supply chain.

His passion, dedication, transparency, perseverance and willingness to adapt to any situation allows him to accomplish his goals with efficiency and integrity. It is this belief that helps him excel in varied roles- whether as Founder of BNIL, the owner of a Golf team, a mentor to a Start-up or Chairing a committee, Mr. Jalan’s curiosity, ability to learn and inclusive leadership allows him to straddle various roles with equal elan.

MENTORSHIP ROLES AND PARTICIPATION IN DELEGATIONS:

Mr. Jalan is a proactive member of Calcutta Angels - An organization which supports & nurtures Start-ups . Mr. Jalan has led  the investment on behalf of Calcutta Angels, into one of the new age Health Startup Companies – ‘Medbay’, based out of New Delhi. He is also on the board of Medbay, on behalf of Calcutta Angels.

Prashant Jalan has been invited by the various Governments & has attended various delegations abroad under the leadership of Chief Minster – GOWB & Industries Minister - GOB to countries such as U.S.A, U.K, Germany, China, Spain, France, Hong Kong & Italy.
